Anchor Hocking Cookware
Anchor Hocking has been in the business of making glass cookware and bakeware for over 100 years. A leader in the industry, they manufacture high quality glassware, and have recently gone on a mission to create their products in a more green and environmentally friendly way. You can find bakeware, tableware, drink are and more quality items in their signature glass.
Anchor Hocking's Basketweave glassware is a line with a woven pattern on the bottom and sides for a pretty tabletop display. Their Oven Basics pieces are simple glass pans and casserole dishes in the most common sizes and shapes for baking, to meet most of the needs of the home baker. Premium dishes offer thicker sides in their clear glass, with clear or red grips on the handles. There's even a set of ceramic dishes in white, or with chocolate outsides and white interiors.
Storage dishes are clear glass round, square and rectangle pieces with red or blue lids, depending on the piece. The bowls and measuring cups come in typical sizes, with some of the bowls labels as spill-proof thanks to their sloping sides. The measuring cups come in larger sizes, called batter bowls, which come with lids.
You can find glasses, coffee mugs, pitchers, wine glasses, beer mugs and barware in their quality lead-free glass in almost any department or discount store. They also make glass plates and dinnerware, serving ware like platters, bowls and cake plates, and accessories like juicers and sundae glasses.
You can also purchase a variety of Anchor Hocking pet-related items and home décor items. All these glass items are beautiful and useful, but they do require some care. Here are some tips that can help you get the most out of your Anchor Hocking glassware for years to come.
Don't use your Anchor Hocking bakeware under a broiler or on the stovetop. Use them only in a microwave oven, or traditional gas or electric oven. Don't use wet or damp potholders or towels to handle hot dishes. And take care with sharp or heavy utensils. An impact can crack, break or scratch an Anchor Hocking dish. In the event that a crack or visible scratch does occur, do not use the piece.
Be sure to use only plastic or nylon scratch pads and cleansers suitable for glass dishes on your bakeware. The best way to clean a dish is to first soak in warm water and soap. Never use metal or steel wool scrubbers, or attempt to scratch food away with a knife or metal utensil. Soaking in hot soapy water loosens baked on food enough that a plastic or nylon scrubber should easily remove it.
Avoid quick temperature changes. Don't place Anchor Hocking bakeware directly from the freezer into a hot oven. Let the food thaw before baking. Don't place hot bakeware on a cold or wet countertop, and never add cold liquid to a hot dish. When using an Anchor Hocking pitcher, use only for cold beverages. Don't put ice cubes in your Anchor Hocking pitcher and then pour a hot liquid over them. The pitcher wasn't designed for hot beverages.
When using a dishwasher, the first warning sign of etching is a rainbow hue on the glass. Watch for this to avoid doing further damage. Etching is a film caused by a combination of high water temperature, too much dishwashing detergent and soft water. To avoid etching your Anchor Hocking glassware keep your water temperature at 140 degrees or below, use one tablespoon of detergent (the closer to that, the better) and wash fewer items at a time to allow for better rinsing. Don't gather drink ware bouquet-style in one hand, don't microwave it or attempt to stack glasses or mugs.
If you follow these tips, you'll enjoy using your Anchor Hocking bakeware and glassware for many years.
